The formative years...
It was in 1980, that
Joe E. Brown who was already a vatern showman began developing a new clown character and . . . "The King of Clowns", Sir ThimbleWitt Thumbbody was born.
Between 1980 and 1986, Brown appeared as Thumbbody approximately
200 + times, many of those being for charity events. With a fresh
approach to clowning and humor, Joe soon became a favorite at local hospitals, convalence homes for the elderly, and at churches.
As a caring clown, Sir ThimbleWitt Thumbbody
was kid friendy, a master funny-bone tickler, with a prescription for giggle medicine. As one young fan put it: "Thumb is funny and loveable in a stupid sort of way. He has a pocket full of magic, and a head
full of jokes."
Joe E. Brown, aka Sir Thimblewitt Thumbbody;
has used several titles and stage names interchangeably thoughout his
stage career.
