When The Bullwhips Cracked

"The Master" and "The King" of the Bullwhips, Joe E. Brown and Lash LaRue.

It is former western star Lash LaRue who gets credit for giving Brown his first real bullwhip, lessons, and some words or encourtainment to
learn the most skilled art of whip-cracking of which Joe, would
brcome an expert.   It was also Mr. LaRue who gave Brown
the title:
"The Master of the Bullwhip"

As LaRue's protege Brown, learned very quickly.   Lash, found him
to be an enthusiastic young man, with a perfect eye and hand
coordination.   In fact, Lash LaRue, was so empressed with
Brown's speed and accuracy that he later hired him to
come out to Hollywood to double for the actor who
played the masked bandit El Azote, in his 1951.

although Brown, was given no screen cridit for his part in
the film at the time.   It was said that this was the best
bullwhip fight ever staged for any motion picture and
is still, just as exciting to day as it was so many
years ago.

Joe, had worked only briefly as a stuntman before signing
a contract to star in a series of indepently produced
westerns of his own, under the new banner of
StarDust Western Films
 
Brown made his motion picture debut as "The Cobra" in
a little black and white "B" Western called:
" TERROR TRAILS "
Released on May 3rd., 1955.   From here Joe, went on to star in
four more films that same year.   These included:
 
"GUNS of the PESCO",  "TRIGGER TRAILS"
"SILVER CANYON OUTLAWS"
and
"THE WHIP"
 
The other pictures in the series were:
 
"STAGE to SUNDOWN", "OUTLAW TERRITORY
and
"SEVEN WAYS TO APACHE PASS"
 
During the late 1960's,
"THE WHIP"
#5. in the series, was retitled:
"The GHOST of the WHIP"
and re-released to televisions.
