Sam was born on May 9th. 1883, in Orange Country, Va.
Very little is known about his childhood.

Buddy McCormick was killed at the age of Ten by a run-a-way horse.
 
The McCormick's
were heartbroken with the
the loss of their son Buddy
and made it a point not to have
anymore children.
